Yin Yoga for Men
Yin Yoga is a fantastic style of yoga that works on the connective tissue (fascia) in our body. As we age, that connective tissue which attaches muscle to bone gradually dehydrates. This means the stiffness in our body increases which can lead to sore joints and other conditions. It's a slower paced practice (compared to the energetic Vinyasa), and we typically hold only 10-15 poses throughout the class, each pose is held for around 3 minutes. As well as increasing flexibility, range of motion and circulation, the practice includes breath awareness which can clear the mind and get rid of mental stress.
Yin Yoga is a great complement to the Yang style of a Vinyasa. It's one of my favourite styles of yoga and I recommend doing both in a week if possible. When practised regularly Yin Yoga releases physical and mental tension bringing us improved overall health and happiness.
